(From their site)"Bursting with terrific songs.” -USA Today". " A touch of John Lennon, a bit of The Byrds, A dash of The Kinks, pinch of The Who, and a dallop of more muscular Zombies and you get something quite original actually. And quite cool." -Little Steven. Straight out of Central Jersey come The Grip Weeds. Two brothers Rick and Kurt Reil grew up playing music together in NJ. Both share singing and song writing duties. Joining them we have the strong female lead guitarist Kristin Pinell who's been compared to the likes of Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Brian May and George Harrison. Then we have Michael Kelly "Super Bass Man".From their site"The band has released four full-length CDs, performed throughout the US and in Europe, and has garnered significant radio/internet airplay including several songs spotlighted on Little Steven’s Underground Garage radio shows. The Grip Weeds have produced all of their recordings at their own studio House Of Vibes as well as those of many other artists- most recently, Kurt engineered and co-produced Meet The Smithereens, a CD tribute to the Beatles by New Jersey's The Smithereens". (From his MySpace page)"A singer, guitarist, and songwriter who rose through the local club scene in the nineteen-eighties, Harford operates in the free zone outside rock's usual categories. He has a foot in country, a hand in seventies rock, a toe in folk, a finger in post-punk. With his gruff but plaintive voice and his fondness for muddied-up guitars, he sometimes recalls Neil Young..." -The New Yorker."Influences are sha na na, jeff the brotherhood, random joe & the strillards. Please join us at The Record Collector for a night filled with great entertainment! You'll be glad you did! Thee Minks are a garage punk trio out of Philadelphia consisting of band members Hope Diamond on guitar and vocals, Liz Lixx on bass and vocals and Plaything on drums. In November of 2003 Thee Minks unleashed their 4 song debut 7", Songs About Boys, on Steel Cage Records (now in it's third pressing!) on an unsuspecting world, resulting in some much deserved attention and adoration from garage rock radio and press, locally and globally. They then recorded their much anticipated "sophomore" record, Are You Ready Now? (also on Steel Cage). They represented the U.S. with two previously unreleased raucous rockers on the Hellbound Honeys compilation on Australia’s Off The Hip Records, and two live raw bashers recorded at the Asbury Lanes bowling alley are featured on the Garage Mayhem compilation CD on Head Shop Records. Additional rock candy can be found on the Gotham Garage compilation CD on Enoch Records and the Get Out Of Philly compilation CD."I Wanna Do A Woggle" (from Are You Ready Now?), is also getting regular play on Sirius Satellite Radio's Underground Garage - check it out!Currently, Thee Minks have recorded and mixed two new songs at 1935 studios and just finished recording and mixing two MORE songs at Third Story Recording for their next Steel Cage release. Check out pics from both studios on our MySpace page! Listen to Thee Minks LIVE on DJ RANDY NOW'S CAPITAL GARAGE RADIO SHOW Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008 from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM EST on 91.3fm WTSR |

THE DOLLYROTS & LANI FORD/STARK
The Dollyrots are one girl and two boys. They're a punk rock band but their CDs are very pop. The Dollyrots have a keen album BECAUSE I'M AWESOME out on BLACKHEART RECORDS and a previous record on LOOKOUT RECORDS. They are currently either on the road somewhere in America or feeding their pets back home in Los Angeles. Some of our influences are Dee Dee Ramone, Joey Santiago, Cherie Currie, DJ Bonebreak, Kat Bjelland, Krist Novoselic, Paul Westerberg, Joan Jett, Steve Jones, Mike Dirnt, Kathleen Hannah, Rodney Bingenheimer, Dolly Madison, AND Catherine the Great... STARK is a New York City rock trio with old school roots and original tunes! They make purgatory fun as the party band…with feelings and music they call Punk-try! STARK just released their sophomore record "Put It To Your Head" in January 2008. Stark is currently featured on Genya Raven's satelite radio show on Little Steven's Underground Garage. Listen to Lani Ford's/ Stark LIVE on DJ RANDY NOW'S CAPITAL GARAGE RADIO SHOW Wednesday, July 30th, 2008 from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM EST on 91.3fm WTSR |
