JOHNNY POMPADOUR
ALL AGES SHOW Artist Site: Official Johnny Pompadour MySpace Page |
From Johnny's Site: "Like a moth to a flame I headed for the bright lights of Las Vegas Nevada where I became a backup singer and dancer to many great entertainers. Singers like Marvin Gaye, Wilson Pickett and Jimmy "Po Boy" Pickinkwicklee. In 1969 I signed a long term contract with Col. Fletch Tichman that had me performing as "Johnny Twobit" at county fairs and roadhouses for the next ten years. In 1992 I reestablished myself in the firmament of stardom as the Legendary Johnny Pompadour with a new line of hair care products and a hot new band. Currently I am performing to packed houses in the Delaware Valley with my band The Full Grown Men. I am larger than life and better than ever." Johnny’s burning desire to bring the world solid entertainment and proper hair care lead him to a life of Rock n’ Roll, and it is here that the legend begins... Tickets: $6.00 Advance $8.00 At The Door Tickets Available Now at The Record Collector ALL AGES SHOW Artist Site: Official The Creatures Of The Golden Dawn MySpace Page Official The Ribeye Brothers MySpace Page CD's Available Here At The Record Collector
Appearing in the wake of acts like the Mosquitos, the Fuzztones, and the Headless Horsemen, the Creatures of the Golden Dawn sound like a band that may have missed their moment in history. If they'd have been around for the '60s garage punk revival (the "paisley underground, " as it was called) in the early 1980's, they'd have had a serious following. The Ribeye Brothers transcend their obvious Nuggets-era roots. Founded by two ex-members of Monster Magnet, the five-piece band churns up a mighty garage racket, often compared to The Seeds and 13th Floor Elevators , enhanced with occasional Supersuckers country twang. JONAH DELSO/ TIM McGLONE
From Jonah Delso's Site: South Jersey native Jonah Delso picked up his guitar and immediately began writing his own music and lyrics. He grew up listening to urban, catchy, pop styles of music, and blends his current love of folk and rock with his childhood musical tastes. As he continues to study music in Philadelphia, Jonah applies his knowledge as a musician to the unique sound he has created as a lyrical artist. At only age 20, Jonah has created an identifiable and extremely likeable sound. In the summer of 2008, Delso was handpicked by the members of Coldplay to open for the Philadelphia show of their “Viva La Vida” world tour. After 7 years of producing his own work, Jonah's new music is booming with life. His song "Radio" was student-produced at MadDragon Studios in 2007, and was released on the label's nationally distributed, 3rd annual compilation disc, "Unleashed3". Jonah continues to book his solo act across the Philadelphia and New Jersey area, while also playing bass for his band the Goodnight Lights and for Philadelphia songwriter Tim McGlone. Since he opened for Coldplay, Jonah has begun touring the east coast promoting his new five song EP “Hi-5”. From His MySpace Page:Tim McGlone's journey into the music industry began shortly after graduating college in Philadelphia. With an arsenal of motown/soul inspired songs, Tim set off for Boston to conquer the New England music scene. It wasn't long until he and Jim Hanft formed "The Limericks", a folk-rock band based at Emerson College in Boston. Toward the end of 2005, The Limericks decided to move to Los Angeles, where the opportunities for music were endless. In that time, he had the chance to play music at several world famous venues including the Whisky a Go Go, the Viper Room, and the Troubadour. "I got to sing on the same stage as Elton John, Otis Redding, and The Doors. It really was a humbling experience", says McGlone. After 2 years, Tim returned to his first love, Philadelphia, where arts, music, and entertainment reign supreme. "Traveling across the country playing music has really made me appreciate where I came from. It really is a blessing to be back in Philadelphia, back on the streets that inspired me for so many years." | GRAHAM PARKER
OPENER: PETE CHAMBERS 7:30pm-9:30pm
Tickets: $20.00 |
Stereotyped early in his career as the quintessential angry young man, Graham Parker was one of the most successful singer/songwriters to emerge from England's pub rock scene of the early '70s. Drawing heavily from Van Morrison and the Rolling Stones, Parker developed a sinewy fusion of driving rock & roll and confessional folk-rock, highlighted by his indignant passion, biting sarcasm, and bristling anger. At the outset of his career, his albums crackled with pub rock energy, snide witticisms, and gentle insights, earning him a devoted following of fans and critics. Join us at The Record Collector and our intimate setting to see one of England's premier singer/songwriters. After moving from India to Liverpool in 1945, Best's mother, Mona Best (1924-1988) started The Casbah Coffee Club in the cellar of the Best's house in Liverpool, which became very popular—the membership list grew to over a thousand—and where The Beatles (then known as The Quarrymen played some of their first concerts. The club was also known as The Casbah Club, or simply The Casbah. Best played there with his first band, The Black Jacks, and later with The Beatles. Best joined The Beatles on 12 August 1960, only one day before they were to go to Hamburg to play a season of concerts. He was dismissed from the group two years later, on 16 August1962, but was never given a full explanation as to the reason why. He later worked as a civil servant for 20 years, before starting The Pete Best Band. Best has been married for over 40 years to Kathy Best; they have two daughters and four grandchildren. We're so thrilled to have he and his band play here at The Record Collector!! Listen to Pete Best on DJ RANDY NOW'S CAPITAL GARAGE RADIO SHOW Wednesday's from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM EST on 91.3fm WTSR |

ROBERT GORDON
From his Myspace site: These days, rockabilly hero Robert Gordon has the status of a cultfigure, and is highly revered by many. After all, it was Gordon that almost singlehandedly kick-started the second rockabilly wave in the late 70s, and thus opened the door for acts like the Stray Cats and Shakin' Stevens. Bruce Springsteen is one of Robert Gordon's admirers, and in late 1977, he gave Gordon the song Fire, and even played piano on Robert's version of that song. At the time, the music that Robert Gordon was making with Link Wray was like a breath of fresh air right in the middle of the disco craze; They did quite well with 'Red Hot', a vibrant and exhilerating rock 'n' roll blast! This will be his only area appearance untill 2009!! We are so excited that he's here at The Record Collector!! Listen for Robert Gordon on DJ RANDY NOW'S CAPITAL GARAGE RADIO SHOW Wednesday's from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM EST on 91.3fm WTSR |
